Agni

A new breath. Inhale. Exhale. Out with the old. In with the NOW. Change. Transformation. Alchemy. This is FIRE/AGNI.

The way fire moves through a forest. We can burn away old ideas. Repetitive behaviors-addictions. Stories we tell ourselves. Delusion. Confusion. A lack of clarity.

Fire is at the center of the yoga practices. To digest. To assimilate. To discern what is nutrient from waste. To toss into the heat and separate what you want to keep and what you want to toss.

We can be grateful when our bodies are doing this process for us. In the heat of our bellies food is assimilated. And, the fire of our being operates a similar way. It comes through to digest all of the experiences, images, information, thoughts, feelings we are presented in a day, a week, a month a year, a lifetime. Just a few.

There are so many, many fires burning within and without. Micro and Micro. Our own + All others. Politics. Social injustice. Education. And so many more. Through practice, we tend our own internal flame, so that it doesn’t burn us but illuminates our inner wisdom. Our own light. Humor even. We use this fire to wake up, take responsibility where we can, make the changes we are able to and keep tending our own flame as we tend those who have been burned by it.

What is it to create balance in our own Fire? Sustainability in our choices? A balanced and clear way of seeing? To allow fire to process. To assimilate. To discern. To clear clutter. To melt away congestion.

This is my daily relationship to practice. I can step into my practice and attempt to “burn” my stories and certainties. My expectations and assumptions. I try to loosen my grip on what I can; and I consider the impermanence of these circumstances, my body. What it is to be present for the one breath cycle, notice the temperature of the air against my skin and melt into the absolute gift of this changing, crazy life. Each moment becomes more sacred, potent, alive knowing that it’s all passing, shifting, burning, washing away…

Love to see you in the virtual practice in a few minutes,
K
