Be a Nice Pretzel

Drinking green smoothies, capturing your foot from behind your back and balancing on your hands doesn’t make you a good (or bad) yogi or human being. If only it were that simple…

Patanjali's Yoga Sutras (written around the second century BCE), is one of the major yogic textbooks and offers us that asanas (physical yoga postures) are only a minor part of a much larger yoga practice. The Sutras provide an eight-step path (Ashtanga) for living an intentional and meaningful life. And, guess what...it doesn't involve pretending to be a gymnast. In fact the '8 Limbs of Yoga' seem deceivingly easy, we’ve heard this stuff before. But applying them consistently, by making them a practice and attempting to live our yoga rather than do our yoga, makes grabbing your foot behind your back seem like a piece of cake...

Check out the Continuing Education Membership & stay tuned for more on the 8 limbs...
